1966, June 11 Pilgrimage by Furukawa Taikō Rōshi and Yamada Mumon Rōshi to the Rinzai Memorial Pagoda in China, in commemoration of the 1100th anniversary of Rinzai’s death.
1966, Oct. 7 Special memorial observance for the 1100th anniversary of Zen Master Rinzai’s death. Attended by 253 representatives from 40 Japanese Rinzai Zen monasteries.
1976, October Special joint sesshin with representatives from Japanese and Western Zen communities commemorating the opening of the Daibosatsu Zendo in New York State.
1979, Aug. 30-Oct. 1 First East-West Spiritual Exchange. Representatives from Japanese Buddhism visit Catholic monasteries in Europe.
1983, Oct. 5-Nov. 5 Second East-West Spiritual Exchange. Representatives from European Christianity visit Buddhist temples in Japan.
